Instructions

    • 1

Distribute grass seed around the timber shed. Choose a grass type that tolerates shade such as zoysia, fescue or Kentucky bluegrass. Refrain from using grass types that cannot tolerate shade such as Bermuda.

    • 2

Plant shrubs and trees around the timber shed to help create a seamless natural landscape. The natural colors of trees and shrubs blend in with the color of the timber. Those who have painted timber sheds may use shrubs and trees that produce flowers the same color of the shed.

    • 3

Install steps to the shed or landscape pavers. Steps and landscape pavers bring definition to the timber shed.

    • 4

Create a flowerbed around the timber shed. Flowerbeds work well around small timber sheds. Use plants that tolerate shade such as hostas on sides where the shed casts shade. Generally, the south-facing side of the shade receives full to partial sunlight. Gardeners can plant most types of plants in full sunlight areas.

Grow climbing vines up the sides of the walls of the shed. Install a netting or trellis on the walls of the shed. Plant climbing vines next to the support structure and train vines to grow up the side of the shed. Gardeners plant climbing vines such as roses, vegetables and fruit.
