How to Build a Low-Cost Landscape Rock Border

Map out your border around the flowerbed on a piece of graph paper or by coiling a garden hose to trace the shape you want. This helps you gauge how much your stone can cover.

Put on work gloves to protect your hands. Place stacks of stones at intervals of 15 feet. This way you do not have to continually load the wheelbarrow. You go from stack to stack with the stone spaced conveniently.

Dig a small divot with a shovel or pick for the flattest side of the stone. Put on kneepads for better comfort. Place the stone in the divot and repeat the step with the next stone. By leaving the flat side down, you create a jagged looking edge for the border.

Place the stones end to end along the desired border. Place all the stone until you complete your border.
