How to Use a Concrete Garden Bench in a Garden to Set Plants On

Using a concrete garden bench to hold plants is a great way to make a functional portion of a garden beautiful and decorative. Concrete garden benches are great for holding planters as part of a container garden, and planting flowers around the base of the bench can shelter them and keep the bench looking attractive.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the bench so that it sits evenly on the soil of the garden, without wobbling or tilting. This will allow it to hold plants evenly without spilling them onto the ground.

    • 2

Ensure that the bench will receive sunlight throughout the day, depending on the plants you put on it. Some plants need full sunlight all day, while others grow best in partial sun. Placement of the bench can affect how much light garden plants get.

    • 3

Fill several decorative pots or planters about three-quarters full with potting soil and plant seedlings or plants in them. Place the planters along the top of the garden bench. Leave some open space to sit, or cover the whole bench with pots and planters.

    • 4

Place remaining pots and planters around the front and sides of the concrete bench to soften its look.

    • 5

Plant seedlings around the base of the garden bench as well. This will ensure that the concrete bench looks like a natural part of your garden.
