DIY Giant Clam Shell Planter

You can use touches of sea life to add an easy beach vibe to kitchens, backyards and gardens. Giant clam shells -- either resin composite, plaster or genuine -- can provide a great nautical touch, as well as decorative space for small plants and herbs. With the addition of a little soil and greenery, you can create your own DIY giant clam shell planter from a decorative clam shell.

  • Soap
  • Clam shell
  • Soil
  • Small plants or seeds

Instructions

      Remove any tags or stickers from the shell outside and inside using soap and water.

      Use the power drill to add holes in the deepest area of the shell bottom. Potted plants require drainage holes for success.

      Fill the shell to the edges with soil.

      Add baby succulents, plant seeds or herbs to the soil. Space out plants to allow for growth.

      Pack soil over seeds and plant roots.
