Measure 6 inches up from the ground on the furthest wooden post at one end of the fence's corner frame. Wrap the end of the wire around the post at this measurement so the wire is running across the outside of the post. Twist the end over the wire locking the wire around the post and drive a staple over the wire on both outer sides of the post.
Slide the pipe through the center of the barb wire spool. Lift the spool by gripping the pipe on either side of the spool. Walk backwards to the opposite end of the fence spooling out the wire as you go on the inside of the T posts.
Drop the spool past the wooden corner posts. Measure 6 inches up the furthest post and hook the solid end of the stretcher on the far side of the post so the ratchet handle is toward you. Slide the moveable clamp end of the stretcher to the opposite end of the bar.
Pull the strand of wire toward you, open the stretcher clamp and lay the strand of wire in it and then close the clamp over the wire. Begin to ratchet the handle bringing the clamp toward the solid end. Continue to pull the handle tightening the wire strand until the wire is tight and you can't get another pull on the handle.
Walk back down the fence to the where you started. Lift the wire strand 6 inches up the first T post and hold it against the post in between two knobs. Pick up a wire clip.
Hook the hook end of the clip over the top of the wire on the left side of the post, bring the pointed end of the clip around the back of the post, bring the loop end of the clip over the top of the wire on the right side. Slide the point of the nail through the clip loop from under the wire. Use the wire for a pivot point and pull the nail up and toward you twisting the loop under the wire and then pull out the nail.
Count the number of knobs between the wire strand and the ground. Move on to the next T post and clip the wire on the post with the same number of knobs under it as on the first post. Continue clipping all the T posts using the knobs as a measuring guide.
Drive two fence staples over the wire on each wooden support post. Release the stretcher by pushing the handle all the way down to the bar in the direction of the moving clamp until it snaps and releases. Open the clamp and lift out the wire.
Estimate the length of wire needed to go around the end wooden post and cut the wire from the spool with the fence pliers. Wrap the wire around the wooden post as you did with the first post.
Start the second strand of wire the same way but measuring 10 inches up from the first strand. Wrap the wire on the post and carry the spool of wire back to the opposite end spooling out the wire as you go. Measure up 10 inches on the wooden end post you began with, set the stretcher in place and again ratchet the wire tight.
Clip the second strand of wire so there are five knobs between it and the first strand. Continue down the fence line clipping to the T posts and stapling to the wooden posts.
Repeat the same post measurements for the next three strands keeping five knobs between strands. You will finish with a five strand fence.
