How to Attach a Rose to a Stone Wall

Roses can accent a beautiful stone wall. However, you may desire to train the roses along the wall. To do this, you will need to attach them. Use wire that is stretched between eye bolts. Instructions

    • 1

Mark the spots where you would like to install the eye bolts that will secure the wire and ultimately the rose bush to the wall with chalk. Use a tape measure if needed to accurately space the bolts for symmetrical layouts.

    • 2

Drill a hole at each chalk mark using a hammer drill and masonry bit the diameter of the anchor. Drill the holes to the depth of the anchor.

    • 3

Insert a masonry anchor into each drilled hole. Thread an eye bolt into each anchor until it is completely fastened to the wall. Use pliers to turn the eye if it is too difficult to turn with your hands.

    • 4

Thread wire through the eye bolts to create a trellis. Cut off the excess wire with wire cutters and tie the ends by twisting the wire around itself with pliers. The wire should be tight to form a trellis-like structure.

    • 5

Train the bush along the wire by tying it to the wire with garden twine. Be careful not to bind the vines of the bush when tying it. It should be slightly loose to allow for growth. Trim excess twine with garden shears.
