Select the art pieces for your barn. Choose art that matches the decorative theme in that area of your yard. Art of this type comes in a variety of styles and types. There are traditional pieces that feature scenes from the countryside as well as yard art. The traditional pieces are paintings that are painted on materials suitable for outdoor display. Yard art is usually constructed of metal or terracotta. You choose this art just as you would the art for the inside of your home, basing your decision on elements like color, visual theme, and decorative style.
Measure the area of the barn to which you'll attach your art. Interior designers recommend that you hang art at eye level, and this generally holds true for outdoor art as well. Take measurements of the height of the area and the width. This will give you an idea of the number of square feet that you have to work with as you begin hanging your art.
Mark off an area in your yard that has the same measurements as the area of the barn wall. Use twine to mark an area that's the same size as the wall area of your barn.
Lay out your pieces of art on the ground in the marked off area. Arrange and re-arrange the pieces until you arrive at the right configuration for the barn art. Only place the artwork within the area that you marked off so that you can use the parameters of the measurements as a guide as you arrange the artwork. This helps to ensure that as you place pieces on the wall, they will fit. Measure the distance between each piece. Write down these measurements.
Use a pencil to mark the barn wall with the places where you'll hang the outdoor art on your wall. Consult the measurements you wrote down so you know how far apart to place the marks.
Drill holes in the barn's wall and screw in screws where you drew the pencil marks.
Hang the barn art on the screws. It should fit if you've paid attention to the measurements you took and marked the barn wall according to how you placed the artwork on the ground.
