How to Replace Vinyl Fence Panels

Vinyl privacy fences provide a reasonably priced fencing solution for a home, and virtually any homeowner can assemble the pre-fabricated parts of the fence with a few tools and no special skills just by following the instructions. However, sometimes fence panels or damaged or take extra weathering from being in an exposed spot. When this happens, that section cannot simply be mended. Instead, it must be replaced with a matching panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the screws securing the panel from either the bracket or the fence post and set them aside. Dismount the vinyl panel and set it out of the way.

    • 2

Lay a level vertically alongside the fence posts on either side of the gap. If you didn't set the posts in concrete, removing the panel might have nudged them out of alignment. If they aren't plumb, you may need to dig up the post and reset it before proceeding.

    • 3

Set the new panel into the gap, either by aligning the rails with the brackets on the post or by sliding the panel's rail tabs into the slots on the posts.

    • 4

Put the screws back into the screw holes and tighten them with a screwdriver.
