Install the fence posts according to the manufacturer's directions. Typically, posts are set every 8 feet on center, but this may vary by manufacturer.
Cut the top rails long enough to span over three posts, using a circular saw. Secure the rails in place on top of the fence posts with galvanized nails and a hammer. Make sure the ends of the rails are on the center of the fence posts. Cut the bottom rails to fit with a circular saw and nail them in place between the posts.
Unroll enough mesh to reach from end post to end post with an assistant helping. Align the end of the mesh with the edge of the post and secure it to the post with fence staples. Staple the mesh to the top rail approximately every 3 inches to prevent sagging while temporarily leaving the bottom unattached, working your way to the next post.
Pull the mesh taut, starting at the top, and staple it to the post every 6 inches with fence staples. Work back along the bottom rail once you reach the bottom post, stapling the mesh as you go.
Work your way along the fence, attaching the mesh along the top rail, down the post and back along the bottom rail as before. Trim any mesh that extends beyond the post with fencing pliers once you reach the end of a roll.
Cut the first roll of fencing even with the edge of the post with fencing pliers if you need more than one roll. Begin the new roll on the same post and position it so at least one row of rectangles overlaps those already secured to the post.
Center a 1-by-6-inch cap rail on the top rail. Position the cap rail so the seams of the board do not fall between the rail underneath it. Secure the cap rail in place with galvanized nails and a hammer. Repeat as needed.
