How to Put in a T-Post

When installing a fence you have a few different options. If you want to use wood posts, you will need to auger a hole a few feet deep and set the post in concrete for optimum hold. You can also use metal T-posts. These posts pound directly into the ground with a special tool--no digging or concrete is needed to set these posts. Use fences with T-posts to keep livestock contained or to keep pests out of your garden.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay the fence post horizontal on the ground. Make a mark up from the bottom of each fence post at your desired depth. This will allow you to set all the fence posts at the same depth.

    • 2

Slide the T-post driver over the fence post and stand the fence post upright at the location you wish to pound it in.

    • 3

Pound in the T-post using an up-and-down motion on the T-post driver. Periodically check for level to ensure you are pounding the post in vertically.

    • 4

Remove the T-post driver once the T-post reaches its pre-measured mark.
