How to Brace a Metal Post

Metal posts are useful for building strong fencing and supporting structures. Bracing metal posts into the ground ensures a strong fence that cannot be easily bent or broken down. The key to bracing metal posts is a strong foundation. The simplest and strongest substance for bracing metal posts is concrete.

Instructions

    • 1

Dig a hole 1 to 1 1/2 feet deep with a post hole digger.

    • 2

Place the concrete into the wheelbarrow and mix in the prescribed amount of water with a shovel. Continue mixing until the concrete has a putty-like consistency.

    • 3

Shovel enough concrete into the hole to fill it halfway.

    • 4

Check the post for the end with holes. This is the end that will be braced into the ground.

    • 5

Press the post into the hole so it is submerged into the concrete.

    • 6

Fill the rest of the hole with concrete, holding the post straight as you fill. Let the pole's bracing set for 24 hours before installing fencing.
