How to Repair a Collapsed Paver Wall

Paver walls are used to edge walkways, paths and gardens and to form rings around trees. Over time, paver walls can get damaged or fall into disrepair. It is important to repair a collapsed paver wall to keep the edges of your landscape well maintained. A collapsed paver wall will detract from your landscape and make it difficult to mow and trim the grass along the edges. Paver walls need to be built on a solid foundation. In order to repair a collapsed wall, you will need to rebuild it with a gravel foundation.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the paver blocks and set them aside. Tap the collapsed blocks free from the edging with a mallet.

    • 2

Shovel the foundation of the paver wall to a depth of 8 inches. Fill the dug-out foundation with approximately 6 inches of gravel. Pack down the gravel in an up-and-down motion with a tamper.

    • 3

Fill the remaining 2 inches of the dug-out foundation with sand. Lay the paver blocks end to end along the sand foundation. Place a level on each block and tap each block with a mallet to adjust it for level.

    • 4

Stack additional layers end to end on top of the first layer of paver blocks. Stagger the joints so that the paver wall will be sturdier.
