Cedar wood has a lovely red tone, but until it weathers and ages, the red can seem bright and jarring. This is especially evident if you are replacing a segment of cedar fencing. The new fencing is surrounded by aged wood that is paler than the new wood’s bright red color, making the new fencing look out of place. After you have installed new cedar fencing, age it with baking soda to help it match the rest of the fencing.
