How to Attach & Install Poly Fasteners to Deer Fences

Polypropylene netting is a common form of deer fence netting that does not block the overall view of a garden or field. Because it is very flexible, it sags if you don’t secure it correctly. Cable ties, which are long, thin plastic ties that lock once you secure them, hold the netting up and do not take long to attach.

Things You'll Need

  • Measuring tape
  • Long cable ties
  • Fence staples (optional)
  • Hammer (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Measure around the posts to determine the correct size of ties. Ties come in different lengths, including nearly a foot long.

    • 2

Wrap the tie around a post at the top -- insert the ends through holes in netting -- and position the ends so they are facing you. If the fence uses cable suspension, where the netting is held up by a cable strung along the top line of the fence, loop the tie through the netting and around the cable.

    • 3

Locate the small box built into one end of the tie. One side of the box is flush with the rest of the tie, while the other side sticks out and looks tapered.

    • 4

Insert the thin end of the tie into the slot in the box on the flat side of the tie. Pull the tie through the box until the tie is as tight as possible. Repeat on every post, placing a tie at the top of each post and securing the top of the netting and the cable too if needed.

    • 5

Tie the netting with more cable ties spaced a foot apart on the post.
