How to Connect Wooden Gates With Galvanized Poles

If you have a wooden fence that needs to be installed on cement, you can make the job go a whole lot easier by using galvanized metal poles – the kind used with chain link fences. However, in order to connect the wooden gate to a galvanized pole, you need to use the right adapter. This piece of metal wraps around the galvanized pole and allows you to screw the wooden fence to it.

Instructions

  Place the hinged gate adapter over the galvanized pole. The rounded end of the adapter should face away from the wooden gate, and the hinged end should face the wooden gate.

  Tighten both ends of the adapter together over the pole with set screws. The screws will insert into holes in both pieces of metal. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver.

  Hold the hinges up to the gate. Drill holes into the wood and through the holes in the hinges with a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the wood screws.

  Drive the wood screws into the holes through the hinges and the wood with the screwdriver.
