Ducane Grill Troubleshooting

Gas Problems

• If you smell gas, immediately turn off your gas grill and all surrounding appliances. Do not light a match. Next, check to see if your tank has a leak. Remove the tank from the grill, and put the valve in the "Off" position. Next, immerse it in water and see if bubbles appear. If you see bubbles, the tank has a leak. Replace it.

Operation

• If the main grilling burners don't ignite, try lighting them several times using the snap ignition. If that doesn't work, try using a match. In humid and windy conditions, sometimes the snap ignitions do not work properly. Make sure that the hood is fully open. Also, ensure that your gas is turned on and that the valve is fully open. Next, take out both the heat distribution plates and cooking grate. Turn the grill backwards, and hit the snap igniter a few times and look for a spark. If you see a spark, the igniter is working properly.

Low Flame/Rotisserie

• If the burner flame is low, ensure that your components are dirt- and dust-free. Clean your grill after every use to reduce residue buildup. Spiders often create webs in burners and openings. If you own a propane grill, ensure that the flow-limiting device is not on. Turn it off if necessary by turning the burner controls to the high setting. After about one minute, shut off the control knobs and reattach the regulator.

  If your rotisserie burner electronic ignition is not working properly, first change out your batteries, and then check to see a spark in the igniter. Ensure that the gap between the electrode tips is between 1/8 inch and 3/6 inch wide. Bend the tips farther out if necessary. Light with a match if the igniter doesn't work.

Warming Drawer

• Certain Ducane grill models have warming drawers. If the warming drawer is not working, read your manual and ensure that you are using the correct operating procedures. Next, make sure that the grill is plugged into an electrical outlet and that a circuit breaker has not tripped. Also, look for blown fuses, and change them if necessary. If you have your grill plugged into a GFCI device, make sure that the device hasn't reset.
