Instructions

    • 1

Incorporate separate seating arrangements on a large covered patio. Place a patio table with chairs on one end, and a wicker love seat and chair on the opposite end. Place lounge chairs in the middle. For a circular patio, place each seating arrangement around the perimeter of the circle. Choose similar furniture types or a mix of metal, wicker or wood, with each arrangement made up of the same type of furniture.

    • 2

Place large planters in different areas of the patio. Select generous urns and pots, and fill with bulky vegetation such as palm or corn plants. Hang flower baskets or ferns along the patio perimeter.

    • 3

Hang colorful neon signs if the patio has electrical outlets. String white twinkling lights around the patio. Drape the lights loosely around the patio or in trees by the patio area. Choose from simple white to colorful lights.

    • 4

Scatter outdoor rugs in different areas of the patio. Choose similar shades, colors and patterns, or change it up with differing looks for each section of the patio.

    • 5

Add splashes of color with outdoor pillows. Arrange them on the love seat or in lounge chairs. Choose colorful cushions for lounge and patio table chairs. Floral or striped will stand out and give each seating arrangement its own individual flair. Reversible cushions will allow you to change the decor periodically.

Lay porcelain tile on a concrete patio. Porcelain, unlike ceramic, endures winter weather without cracking. The tile adds a distinctive touch, replacing the bland gray concrete flooring.

    • 7

Add a water feature to the patio. A small tabletop fountain or a large floor model will provide hours of listening pleasure.
