Find a location to mount the transformer. This is ideally close to an GFCI outlet in a location that is protected from the elements; below the deck, on the side of a joist, is a good location.
Fasten the transformer with the provided wood screws through the holes on each corner.
Open the transformer's access panel and locate the electrical terminals. Back the terminal screws off slightly with a screwdriver.
Pull the two wires apart that make up the low-voltage wiring. Do this by cutting the wire in between the two conductors with wire cutters and gently pulling them apart. Strip 1/4 inch of insulation off the end of each wire with wire strippers. Slide each of the wires under the terminals on the transformer and tighten the terminal screws.
Run the low-voltage wire along the bottom of the deck in the direction of the first light. Fasten the wire every 1 foot to 2 feet with a exterior-rated cable staple and hammer.
Connect the low-voltage wire to the light wire by snapping the compression fitting around the wire and closing the gate. This forces a metal blade into the wire, making the connection.
Continue running the wire along the deck and fastening to each light until all are connected.
Plug the transformer into the outlet and confirm that all of the lights illuminate.
