Sweep the entire deck or patio to remove any dirt or debris.
Wash the deck or patio with water and liquid dishwashing soap. Use the broom to scrub the soapy water mixture into the wood.
Spray the soapy water off the wood and wait for the wooden surface to completely dry. Drying time varies according to the temperature outside.
Put on safety glasses and protective gloves. If the wood is heavily stained, pour 1 gallon of cool or cold water into the garden sprayer. Add four scoops (8 ozs.) of Rip It! to the garden sprayer. Mix the stripper in with the water by shaking the sprayer back and forth. If the wood is not heavily stained, add three scoops (6 ozs.) of Rip It! to the sprayer and mix it in well with the water.
Apply the stripper to the entire wooden deck with the sprayer. Use a paintbrush if necessary to apply the stripper to any hard-to-reach areas.
Wait for the stripper to dissolve the stain on the wood and wash the stripper off with a water hose. Do not let the stripper dry. As soon as the stain begins to dissolve from the wood, wash the stripper off thoroughly with the water hose.
