Clean the glass weekly by spraying glass cleaner on the glass and using either a squeegee or lint-free towel to wipe off dirt.
Wash the aluminum railing with a mild, non-abrasive household cleaner and a soft sponge at least twice a year. Do this more often, four times a year, for example, if you live in areas with a lot of air pollution, dust or near the ocean where the railings are exposed to salt in the air. Rinse the railing with clean water after cleaning.
Apply a thin coating of car wax to the rail fasteners every two to three months. This will help prevent damage to the fasteners from general environmental damage, including from salty sea air.
Spot clean the railing or glass if you notice bugs, bird droppings, tree sap or other common stains. The sooner you remove these, the less chance the grime will become baked on the railing.
Test the rail fasteners at least once a year to make sure they are still holding tightly. Mark the date on a calendar so you remember to do it each year around the same time. Tighten loose screws with a screwdriver if necessary.
