Clear off your front porch to have a bare, uninterrupted surface to work.
Roll landscaping fabric over the porch against the home's exterior and cut off excess with scissors. Roll out more, overlapping the first row of fabric by a few inches. Cut off the excess again with scissors. Continue to roll out and cut new rolls and overlapping them until you've covered the porch entirely.
Insert staples into a staple gun and staple the landscaping fabric to the porch to hold it in place.
Fasten rubber landscape edging to the edges of the porch using a hammer and nails to create a border to contain the pebbles.
Spread stone dust on top of the landscape fabric about 1 inch deep. Tamp down firmly with a hand tamper.
Fill the space with pebbles, then spread sand over the pebbles. Sweep over the pebbles with a broom, allowing it to fill the gaps between pebbles. Tamp down with a hand tamper. Wet with a hose and allow to dry. Add more sand and sweep again to finish.
