How to Mount a Paraflex Cantilever Umbrella

Paraflex cantilever umbrellas differ from standard patio umbrellas in that they are mounted on movable arms rather than a pole. The cantilever arms are mounted on exterior walls to extend over the patio and offer shade that can be moved with the umbrella to angle at different portions of the patio. These umbrellas are heavy, and the hardware needs to be mounted on a sturdy wall with good support to prevent the umbrella from falling.

Instructions

Hold the mount up to the wall where it will be placed. The mount needs to be at least 10 inches from door or window frames and 71 inches from the ground. Make sure that the mount is straight vertically with a level. Draw a line along the bottom of the mount where it will be placed with a marker. Make a dot with the marker in the two holes where the mount will be attached. Drill where the two dots have been made. Hammer the included pegs into the drilled holes.

Remove the two pegs. Place the mount against the wall aligned with the holes and replace the pegs to secure the mount to the wall. Tighten the pegs with the ratchet. Remove the lever from under the arm mount. Loosen the bolt with the ratchet and slide the bottom of the arm mount to the side. Slide the arm into place so that the gears match up. Slide the bottom of the arm mount back into place, tighten the bolt with the ratchet and replace the lever. The handle of the lever will run along the bottom of the arm. Tighten all of the bolts on the arm.

Slide the lever on the umbrella end of the arm into place. Slide the umbrella arm up or down the track on the mount until you have it where you want it. Open the umbrella grip with the lever. Place the bottom of the umbrella pole into the umbrella grip and use the lever to close the grip and secure the umbrella. Use the levers at the base, bend and grip on the arm to adjust the umbrella placement.
