How to Furnish a 9x15 Patio

Arrange chairs and a bench or outdoor sofa on the patio to create a seating area. Place the bench along one 9-foot edge and set the two chairs to face each other at the ends of the bench; the chairs should not sit directly beside the bench, but in front of it. Choose seating furniture without cushions or cushions made of water-proof fabric in patterns and colors that harmonize with your home's siding or bloom colors in the surrounding landscape.

Place a coffee table and end tables on the patio to provide raised surfaces on which to sit drinks, place potted plants or play board games. Choose tables made of water-resistant materials, such as plastic and metal, or apply water-resistant seals to wooden tables. Position end tables at each end of the bench and set a small coffee table in front of the bench.

Replace the coffee table with a fountain, statue or fire pit if you do not imagine using the coffee table for card or board games. These replacement fixtures create charming additions to your patio furnishing and help to increase the value of your home.

Position a grill and patio bar at the other end of the patio. Situate the items across from each other, along the 15-foot-long sides. This provides excess walking room on the patio for guests to easily access the grill or bar to help themselves to food and drink.

Enhance the patio decor by furnishing end tables with outdoor lamps, potted plants, floral vases and small, waterproof statues or figurines. You may use non-waterproof decorative items if you intend to place them outside only when using the outdoor space. Add throw pillows in patterns and shades that complement your patio furniture or landscape to make outdoor seating more lush and comfortable.
