How to Put Together a TEMO Patio Cover

The TEMO Sunrooms company manufactures sunrooms, pergolas, screen rooms and patio covers. TEMO patio covers are constructed of durable aluminum with a thermal roof that deflects heat from the sun. The patio covers are maintenance-free, with a lifetime warranty that ensures the finish won’t warp, splinter or peel. The patio cover kits can either be installed by a TEMO professional or as a do-it-yourself project.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the TEMO patio cover’s hanging rail to the house. Remove the roof’s shingles from the place where the patio cover handing rail will be placed and then install the handing rail. Use a drill to secure the rails screws to the house.

    • 2

Attach the patio cover's column shoes and columns to the home’s foundation. First, install the left column shoe to the foundation. Set the left column in the left column shoe and secure with the included fasteners. Repeat these steps for the middle and the right columns.

    • 3

Connect the columns and beams. Secure the rafter brackets to the front beam of the columns. The columns have pre-drilled holes to correspond with the bracket holes. Insert the beams into each column and after making sure they are level, secure the beams to each column.

    • 4

Install the roofing system. Secure the roof of the patio cover by attaching it onto the hanging rail. While leaning the panels on top of the columns, secure them to the house by inserting each one into the hanging rail. Each roofing panel interlocks with the next panel. When all panels have been inserted, slide the vinyl cleat longitudinally at both the front and bottom of the panels.

    • 5

Secure the patio cover with screws by attaching the patio cover panel to the wall panels underneath. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, use the enclosed lag screws to secure the patio cover panels to the top of the wall panels. Use the enclosed Eternabond Sealing tape to seal and tape over all seams, attachments and screws.

    • 6

Attach the enclosed butyl tape to the bottom of the enclosed Z trim, which is the Z-shaped metal bar. Hook the flashing, which is a pre-bent metal bar, to the Z-trim and fasten it to the house using a drill.

    • 7

Use other flashing tape -- not included with the TEMO patio cover kit -- to reinforce the flashing and create an additional weatherproof barrier. When finished, replace the shingles.
