How to Remove Blue Stain Dots on Porcelain Tile

Blue spots on porcelain tile can be caused by a blue hand soap or cleaning solution, or they could occur if you have copper, or acid, water. This type of water often leaves blue or green deposits on porcelain tile in the bathroom. Prevent this by installing a water softener designed for copper water. Remove stains with soap or an ammonia solution that will clean the stains without damaging the porcelain.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix ¼ tsp. of liquid dish soap with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Mix until suds form.

    • 2

Dip a sponge into the solution and scrub it over the porcelain tile until the blue stains are gone. If the stain was made with a cleaning solution, food item or another household product, the solution will likely remove it.

    • 3

Mix 1 cup of water with 1 cup of ammonia, if the stains are still visible.

    • 4

Dip a sponge into the ammonia solution and scrub it over the porcelain until the stains are completely gone.

    • 5

Dip a scrubbing brush into the ammonia solution, if you can still see the spots. Scrub the porcelain tile but not so hard that you scratch the tile. Use a soft-bristled brush.

    • 6

Rinse the porcelain tile with clear water.
