How to Get a Wine Stain Off of a Matte Painted Wall

Flat paint provides a matte finish to your walls and is frequently used in areas where a lot of wall cleaning won't be necessary. When wine is accidentally splashed onto your matte painted wall, a quick response is important in removing the stain. You can remove the wine stain completely using supplies and methods that will not wash off any of the flat paint.

Instructions

    • 1

Press a paper towel into the wine stain on the wall to absorb the moisture. Discard soiled paper towels and continue to blot the wall to remove as much wine as possible.

    • 2

Wipe the remaining wine stain with a stain-erasing sponge made for cleaning flat wall paint. Gently rub back and forth over the stain to remove the pigment from the stain.

    • 3

Moisten a microfiber cloth with water, and wring out excess moisture. Place three to five drops of mild dish detergent onto the cloth.

    • 4

Sponge the wine stain with the detergent. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for 10 minutes.

    • 5

Blot the detergent with paper towels to remove as much as possible. Moisten a paper towel, and use it to remove the residue.
