How to Remove Burned Liquid Stains on a Ceramic Cooktop

If liquid boils over onto the hot burner, it will cause a stain due to the hot ceramic cooktop burning the liquid. Liquid stains are unpleasant and appear as areas of discoloration. While the stains may look impossible to remove, you can return the surface back to its original condition by treating the burned liquid as soon as possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Let the cooktop cool completely before you treat the burned liquid stain.

    • 2

Clean the burned stain with mild dish soap and warm water. Scrub the stain with a nonabrasive sponge to remove as much of it as possible.

    • 3

Dampen a paper towel with warm water, and sprinkle baking soda over the stubborn stain to remove it. Scrub the stain to remove it.

    • 4

Apply a cooktop cleaner to a nonabrasive sponge or washcloth if the liquid stain remains. Follow the directions on the cooktop cleaner before you use it.

    • 5

Soak a paper towel in water, and place it over the liquid stain if it remains. Allow the paper towel to sit for 30 minutes. Then, scrub the cooktop area with a nonabrasive sponge.

    • 6

Remove thick liquid stains from the surface with a razor blade. Hold the blade at a 30-degree angle to prevent scratching the cooktop. Scrape the area off the stovetop carefully.
