How to Get Vinegar Out of a Couch

Even though white vinegar is a common ingredient in many natural cleaning recipes, other types of vinegar can leave discolorations and stains on the fibers of the couch. In addition, the naturally acidic nature of vinegar can damage fabric if left to sit for an extended period of time. When dealing with spilled vinegar, removing it in a timely fashion is key. The longer you allow the vinegar to sit on the couch, the more likely a permanent stain will occur.

Instructions

    • 1

Absorb as much of the spilled vinegar off the couch by blotting with several paper towels. Continue blotting until you can no longer absorb any more vinegar.

    • 2

Add 2/3 cup of rubbing alcohol to a small container. Mix 1 tbsp. of white vinegar with the alcohol using a spoon to stir the two liquids together. Moisten a lint-free cloth in the mixture.

    • 3

Blot the vinegar stain with the cloth for several seconds, and then blot the damp stain immediately with a dry lint-free cloth.

    • 4

Continue alternating between blotting the stain with the damp cloth and the dry cloth until the vinegar stain is no longer present.

    • 5

Remove the mixture residue off the couch with a clean cloth dipped in water.
