Removing Paint From Black Leather Shoes

Black leather shoes complement any classy outfit perfectly -- they're typically simple, sleek and shiny. Though most tend to keep their leather shoes in immaculate condition, accidents can happen. Whether your kids were a little messy during arts and crafts time or you didn't see the "Wet Paint" sign, you'll have a splotch of paint to remove from your black leather. Both fresh and dried paint can be removed using common household materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Dab up as much paint as possible with a baby wipe if the stain is fresh. If the paint is dry, proceed to the next step.

    • 2

Dampen the tip of a cotton swab with acetone. Roll the tip of the swab over the paint stain until most of it is absorbed into the cotton. For large stains, use fresh swabs and more acetone as needed.

    • 3

Make a solution of mild dish soap and warm water. Saturate a microfiber cloth with the solution and wring out excess water. Rub the stained area of the shoes using a firm, circular motion. Continue until the paint is completely removed, then dry with a microfiber cloth.

    • 4

Apply a small amount of leather conditioner to the cleaned area and rub until no excess remains on the surface. Allow it to penetrate the leather for 15 to 20 minutes.

    • 5

Buff the area with a flannel cloth. This will restore the leather's natural sheen and supple texture.
