How to Get Food Coloring Out of Vinyl Siding

Although low-maintenance, vinyl siding is subject to stains. Messy backyard parties involving dye-infused foods such as cake frosting and sugary beverages may lead to vinyl siding becoming stained with food coloring. The longer food coloring stays on vinyl siding, the more difficult the colorful dyes become to clean off. Since the dyes in food coloring transfer such distinct stains onto vinyl siding, remove them before they permeate the vinyl.

Instructions

    • 1

Douse the stained vinyl siding with a biodegradable all-purpose cleaner. Fully saturate the food coloring with the cleaner.

    • 2

Wipe the siding with paper towels, removing as much food coloring as possible. Always apply a fresh portion of paper toweling to the siding.

    • 3

Moisten a rag with water. Wipe any remaining cleaner off the vinyl siding before the solution dries.

    • 4

Inspect the siding for remaining food coloring. If any food dye remains on the siding, repeat the previous procedure and continue until all food coloring is removed.

    • 5

Dry the moist siding with a towel once all food coloring is gone.
