How to Get Milk Stains Out of a Microsuede Couch

Microsuede resembles the look and feel of suede without the high cost. It is also durable and resistant to stains, although some foods will penetrate the dense weave of the fabric and leave their mark. Cleaning up spills quickly helps to prevent most stains, including milk stains.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Place a clean, white rag or white paper towel over wet milk stain and press the rag or paper towel into the milk to blot up as much milk as possible. Move the rag or paper towels often to use dry sections.

    • 2

Dip a clean, white rag or paper towel in cold water. Place the wet rag or paper towel over the milk stain and press the water into the microsuede fabric.

    • 3

Place a dry white rag or paper towel over the wet area and blot the area to remove the water. Continue to alternate between the wet rag or paper towel and the dry rag or paper towel until the milk stain disappears.

    • 4

Fill a small bucket with water and add a generous squirt of dish detergent if the milk stain remains on the microsuede couch. Mix the detergent and water vigorously to create suds. Pick up the suds with a clean, white rag. Press the detergent suds into the milk stain. Let the soap suds sit on the milk stain for five to 10 minutes.

    • 5

Dampen a white rag with cool water and blot the milk stain. Continue to alternate between applying the soapsuds and blotting the milk stain with plain water until the milk stain is no longer visible.

    • 6

Add water and 1 tbsp. of an enzyme-based laundry detergent to a bucket, if the milk stain remains on the microsuede couch. Stir the water to blend the laundry detergent. Dip a clean, white rag into the mixture and blot the milk stain. Place a clean, white rag or paper towel over the wet area and blot up the excess moisture. Continue to blot the milk stain with the enzyme-based detergent and water and then the dry rag until you no longer see the stain.

Fold a clean, white rag or a thick layer of white paper towels and put it over the stain. Place a weight on top of the paper towels or rag to wick the moisture out of the couch.
