Nail polish remover is used to remove difficult ink, super glue, hair dye and, of course, nail polish stains. While successful in removing many stains, the solvent may leave behind a faint yellow mark on fabric, carpeting and furniture. If left untreated, chemicals in the nail polish may damage the integrity of certain fabrics. You can treat clothes with a commercial stain removal product and regular laundering, but furniture and carpet require some extra care.
