Instructions

    • 1

Blot up as much of the cough syrup as possible with white rags. Switch to a clean part of the rag each time you blot to avoid reapplying the syrup to the carpet. Continue until no more cough syrup is coming up from the carpet.

    • 2

Pour 2 cups of warm water into a bowl. Add 1 tbsp. of liquid hand soap and 1 tbsp. of white vinegar. Mix the ingredients well.

    • 3

Dip a clean, white rag into the cleaning solution. Dab the solution onto the stain.

    • 4

Sponge water onto the spot with a clean rag. Blot with another clean rag to soak up the moisture.

    • 5

Dab rubbing alcohol onto the spot with a clean rag. Blot with a dry rag to absorb the moisture and lift the stain. Continue blotting with the dry rag until no more syrup comes up from the carpet. Rinse the spot with a damp rag.

    • 6

Mix 1/2 cup water and 1 tbsp. clear household ammonia in a clean spray bottle, if the stain is still there. Spray the ammonia solution onto the stain.
