Removing Hard Water Stains From a Quartz Countertop

Distinguished by their durability and elegant appearance, quartz countertops enhance any kitchen or bathroom. Since quartz is nonporous, stains cannot easily permeate the stone. Nonetheless, failure to wipe up hard water from quartz countertops leaves them vulnerable to mineral deposits. Hard water stains temporarily mar quartz’s appearance with filmy, white buildup. The longer hard water buildup stays on quartz, the harder the white film becomes to clean. Promptly remove hard water stains from quartz countertops, using a few common products.

• 3 cloths
• Liquid dish soap
• Dry 0000-grade steel wool

     Dampen a cloth with water and some liquid dish soap (about a drop). Squeeze the cloth to produce suds.

     Wipe the quartz countertop with the soapy cloth. Remove all grime from the quartz before addressing the hard water stains.

     Moisten another cloth with water. Wipe the quartz to rinse away soapsuds.

     Rub the remaining hard water spots with dry 0000-grade steel wool. Lightly buff the stains until they disappear.

     Wipe the loosened mineral buildup off the quartz countertop, using a dry cloth.
