How to Get Water Marks Off of Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is a layered product made to look like genuine hardwood flooring. The laminate pieces are cut into planks that are laid similarly to hardwood floor pieces. Although laminate flooring is manufactured, it acts very much like hardwood flooring in many respects. If water is allowed to sit on laminate flooring, your floor can develop water marks that can be difficult to remove. With a bit of elbow grease you can remove these spots before they permanently damage your laminate flooring.

Instructions

    • 1

Apply a small amount of laminate floor cleaner to a soft cloth. You can find cleaning products specially designed for laminate flooring at any home and garden supply store.

    • 2

Massage the floor cleaner gently into the water mark. Wipe excess floor cleaner away and examine the water mark to make sure it is gradually disappearing.

    • 3

Rub more laminate floor cleaner into the water mark if needed. If the mark does not appear to be diminishing, apply a small amount of mineral spirits to a clean, dry cloth. You can find mineral spirits at any home and garden supply store as well.

Massage the mineral spirits into the water mark with a circular motion. Continue until the water mark fades.
