Getting Fudge Off Carpet

Fudge contains milk, sugar and cream that can make your carpet feel greasy and slimy. It can also contain chocolate or other colored flavors that can dye the carpet. Pick up dropped fudge as soon as you notice it to prevent it from smearing on your carpet, making it tough to remove.

Instructions

    • 1

      Pick up as much fudge as you can from between the carpet fibers, using your fingers. Rinse your fingers with water while you are doing this do you don’t spread the stain.

      Blot dry cleaning solution directly onto the stain to remove most of the residue.

      Mix 3 drops of liquid dish soap with 1 cup of lukewarm water.

      Dampen a cloth with the soap solution and blot it over the fudge stain. This should remove some of the color and grease residue.

      Mix 1 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of water.

      Blot the white vinegar solution over the stain to remove the liquid dish soap residue as well as the fudge smell. If the stain is still visible, continue to the next step.

      Mix 1 tbsp. of ammonia with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Ammonia is especially useful for removing chocolate fudge.

      Blot the ammonia solution over the colored stains.

      Dampen the area with water to rinse out the cleaning solution residue. Dry the area with a clean cloth. Repeat the process until the stained area feels like the surrounding area. Let the carpet air dry before walking on it.
