How to Get Crayons Off Carpet

Crayon stains can cause a lot of damage to carpets, especially light colored ones. Prevent crayon stains by keeping an eye on your children whenever they are using them and by keeping crayons out of their reach when they are playing on your carpets. Cleaning crayon stains involves removing both the greasy texture as well as the color. Use solvents that will do both without damaging the carpet, and always test the solutions on an inconspicuous area of the carpet to ensure it won't affect the carpet’s color or texture.

    • 3

Blot the soapy solution directly on the stain to remove the grease residue. Continue blotting until the carpet no longer feels greasy.

Soak a cloth in clear water and press it over the carpet to rinse out the cleaning solution residue.

    • 5

Press a dry cloth over the wet area to soak up the water.

    • 6

Repeat the rinsing and drying process until the carpet feels smooth and clean and is just slightly damp. Let it air-dry completely.
