How to Clean Baked-on Grease Stains on Teflon Cake Pans

Teflon-coated cake pans rarely need to be greased before you pour in the batter. But an occasional greasing or oily residue from the cake can build up inside your pans. If the grease stains aren't removed entirely before you use the cake pans again, they become baked-on. The resulting carbonized grease stains become more difficult to remove, but your cake pans aren't a lost cause. You can use supplies found readily in the kitchen to remove the baked-on grease stains from your cake pans without damaging the nonstick Teflon coating.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a small cooking pot with 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 1/2 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a boil.

    • 2
Vinegar cuts through grease to loosen the stains on your cake pans.

Place the cake pans on hot pads to protect your countertop. Carefully pour the heated vinegar and baking soda solution into the cake pans. Allow the solution to remain inside the cake pans until it's lukewarm

    • 3

Scrub the inside of the cake pans with a nylon mesh scrubber to remove the loosened grease stains without scratching the Teflon coating. Sprinkle baking soda onto the scrubber, if needed, for stubborn grease stains.

    • 4

Empty the vinegar solution out of the cake pans. Place one or two drops of dishwashing detergent in each pan. Add water to cover the bottom of the pan.

    • 5

Wash the inside of the Teflon cake pans with the detergent and scrub brush. Rinse the pans with water to remove the detergent.

    • 6

Dry the Teflon cake pans with a lint-free kitchen towel.
