How to Remove Scorch Marks From Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is a smooth and pristine metal that repels stains and complements modern décor. Heat stains can develop on the stainless steel if you place a very hot pan directly on the steel. These marks are sometimes black, purple or green. Remove the marks as soon as they occur to prevent them from becoming a permanent part of your appliance.

Instructions

    • 1

Soak a terry cloth in white vinegar. Terry cloth has a raised nap that will help you scrub the stainless steel without scratching it. Let the stainless steel cool enough so you can clean it without burning yourself.

    • 2

Rub the terry cloth over the scorch marks and along the grain. Use as much pressure as possible to buff off the scorch marks.

    • 3

Sprinkle scouring powder over the scorch marks if they are still visible.

    • 4

Scrub the scouring powder into the heat marks with a cloth until they are gone.

    • 5

Rinse the area with clear water and dry it completely to prevent streaks from developing.
