Removing Base Makeup From a Carpet

Foundation, or base makeup, helps even out your complexion, but if you spill it, the pigment can make an obvious stain on your carpet. Remove the pigment with a simple solution of soap and water. Use dry cleaning solution to remove grease residue that sometimes comes with a base makeup stain.

Instructions

    • 1

Blot the stain with a clean cloth to pick up as much of the base makeup as possible. Work from the edges of the stain toward the center. Continue until you can no longer pick up any makeup.

    • 2

Mix ¼ teaspoon of liquid dish soap with 1 cup of water. Mix until soap bubbles form.

    • 3

Blot the solution directly on the stain. Work from the edges and blot rather than rub so you don’t spread the stain or work it further into the carpeting.

    • 4

Dab the dry cleaning solvent directly onto the stain to remove the rest of it. Work until the stain is completely gone.

    • 5

Mist the area with water from a spray bottle.

    • 6

Press a cloth over the damp area to soak up water residue. Continue misting and dabbing until the cleaning solution residue is gone and the carpet is only damp.
