How to Get Concealer Out of the Carpet

Under eye concealer helps lighten dark circles under the eyes but isn't quite as beneficial to the appearance of your carpet. The color and oil in concealer spreads to surrounding carpet fibers if cleaned improperly. Stick concealer is even worse -- leaving chunks of makeup stuck in the carpet fibers. You can get concealer out of your carpet with careful stain removal methods and the appropriate supplies that remove both the color and oil portions of the makeup stain.

  • Paper towels
  • Talcum powder

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape excess concealer off the carpet with a spoon, and wipe the concealer on a paper towel. Continue to remove as much as possible.

    • 2

Cover the remaining concealer stain with a mound of talcum powder. Allow the powder to absorb the remaining liquid and oil from the concealer. Wait 15 minutes, then vacuum the powder to remove it.

    • 3

Moisten a clean cloth with dry cleaning solvent, and dab at the concealer stain to lift the color. Move to a clean portion of the cloth to remove the makeup stain.

    • 4

Pour 2 cups of warm water into a bucket, and add 1 tablespoon of dishwashing detergent. Moisten a clean cloth with the diluted detergent, and sponge the carpeting to lift as much of the concealer stain as possible. Blot the carpeting with a damp cloth to rinse out the detergent solution. Then, press a dry cloth into the carpet fibers to absorb the excess liquid.

Mix 1 tablespoon of ammonia with 1/2 cup of cool water to tackle the remaining concealer stain on your carpet. Dab at the makeup stain with the diluted ammonia to remove as much of it as possible. Rinse the carpet by sponging it with a damp cloth.

    • 6

Tackle any remaining concealer makeup stain on your carpet with a solution made from 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the vinegar solution, and dab the carpet. Press a moist cloth into the carpet fibers to rinse them.

Lay two or three dry cloths over the carpet at the site of the concealer stain. Step on or press your hands against the cloths to absorb the moisture from the carpet. Let the carpeting air-dry completely.
