Heavy-duty cast-iron pots and pans are sometimes coated with porcelain enamel, which protects the iron, prevents rusting, provides a decorative finish and eliminates having to season the pot or pan. White or cream-colored enamel is usually applied to the interior of the cookware, and though it comprises a protective layer, the enamel can still become stained with frequent use. Remove stains using enzyme laundry detergent or a diluted bleach solution.
