How to Remove Stains From My Amana Glass Cooktop

Amana makes and distributes a ceramic glass cooktop that has a smooth surface that complements a sleek kitchen. Using the Amana cooktop requires you to place pots and pans directly on the smooth surface. This can leave burn marks, food residue and other stains on the hot surface that will remain even after the cooktop cools. Clean stains as soon as the surface cools to help prevent the stains from baking onto the surface where they can be harder to remove completely.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off all the burners and wait until the burners are no longer hot. Don’t let the burners cool completely.

    • 2

Soak a sponge in water and rub it over the entire stovetop to remove the majority of the food residue. Rinse the sponge as needed and continue cleaning the stove until only the stains are visible.

    • 3

Slide a razor blade over tough stain residue on the stovetop. Use a sharp razor blade on the wet cooktop as the water will help lubricate the area and prevent scratches.

    • 4

Apply scouring powder to the area and scrub it into the cooktop with the abrasive side of the sponge. Work until the cooktop appears completely clean.

    • 5

Rinse the area with clear water and dry it completely with a clean cloth.
