The glass in which you serve wine sets the tone for the experience of enjoying the wine's appearance, smell and taste. You wouldn't want to serve fine wine in an unattractive, cloudy glass. Wine glasses sometimes become cloudy due to the build up of hard water residue. Minerals like calcium and magnesium leave deposits on surfaces like glassware, especially if you've washed the glasses in your dishwasher. The best repair for a cloudy wine glass is a wash in a mildly acidic cleaning solution.
