CorningWare is versatile and durable but its surface can sustain gray marks from silverware and other dishes rubbing against it. The marks are not actually scratches but marks left in the glaze after contact with other items, especially metal silverware and utensils. Normal washing cannot remove these gray marks, so you'll need to scrub your CorningWare with a mild abrasive.
