Removing Permanent Marker From Laminate

Permanent markers are, as their name suggests, supposed to be permanent. However, accidents happen: You forget to cap the marker and the counter has spots. Or, more likely, your two-year-old wants to make you a big pretty picture of a dinosaur on the kitchen floor. By using everyday supplies you have in your cabinets, you can remove those marker stains from laminate surfaces.

Instructions

  1. Isopropyl Alcohol

    • 1

Pour 1 to 2 tablespoons isopropyl alcohol onto a clean rag.

    • 2

Dab the surface of the marks with the rag, using firm pressure, until all marks lift onto the rag.

    • 3

Rinse the rag under running water. Wring out excess water to keep the rag moist but not drenched.

    • 4

Dab the surface with the water-moistened rag to remove the rubbing alcohol.

    Cleaning Eraser

    • 5

Moisten a cleaning eraser under running water. Squeeze excess water out.

    • 6

Rub the surface of the marks with the eraser, using firm pressure.

    • 7

Remoisten the eraser as necessary. Continue to scrub until the marker spots are gone.

    Anti-Bacterial Hand-Sanitizing Gel

    • 8

Add a squirt of anti-bacterial hand-sanitizing gel to a clean, dry cloth.

    • 9

Wipe the spot with a circular motion to remove the permanent marker stains.

    • 10

Rinse the rag and wring out excess water. Wipe the laminate surface with the rag to remove the sanitizing-gel residue.
