How to Get Water Marks Off Leather Shoes

Leather shoes that are clean and spot-free create a classy, professional look to most outfits. Falling rain or snow and water bottle spills can cause water marks to develop on the leather shoes. As the shoes dry, a white water mark remains due to salt deposits. Using common household items, such as vinegar, brushes and towels, can effectively eliminate unsightly water marks from leather shoes.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour cool, clean water into a medium size bowl. Add 2 to 4 drops of white vinegar into the bowl and mix well. The vinegar’s acidity helps remove salt deposits left by the water marks.

    • 2

Dip a soft bristle brush into the vinegar solution and vigorously scrub the leather shoe’s water mark stains until they are thoroughly removed.

    • 3

Remove excess water from the shoes with a clean, dry towel. Let the shoes dry overnight in front of a fan or near an open window.
