How to Get Orange Juice Out of a Sofa

Drinking orange juice over a sofa makes the furniture upholstery vulnerable to the citrus juice. Orange juice mars fabric upholstery with orange stains that not only appear unsightly, but also become more insoluble over time. Hence, the longer orange juice permeates sofa fabric, the harder the citrus beverage is to remove. Quickly get orange juice out of an upholstered sofa before the orange stain sets and becomes more stubborn.

Instructions

    • 1

Blot up any fresh orange juice using paper towels. If the orange juice stain is dry, gently scrape off the crusty orange particles with a dull knife.

    • 2

Squeeze 1 tablespoon of bleach-free dishwashing liquid into a cleaning pail. Pour in 2 cups of cool water.

    • 3

Stir the solution with a spoon until the detergent is evenly mixed into the water.

    • 4

Dampen a white dishcloth in the detergent solution. Tamp the remaining orange juice stain until it dissolves. Fold the dishcloth between each blot.

    • 5

Moisten another dishcloth with cool water. Tamp the rest of the orange juice-stained sofa until the detergent residue is fully rinsed out.

    • 6

Blot the water-dampened upholstery with a white dishtowel. Absorb as much moisture as possible, and then let the sofa upholstery air-dry.
