Frequent handling and exposure to the elements can cause brass rings, especially non-lacquered ones, to lose their luster. Non-lacquered brass tarnishes due to oxidation, which occurs when brass is exposed to air. Skins oils add to the damage caused by oxidation. In order to remove tarnish and restore shine to a brass ring, you'll need to use an acidic substance. Luckily, a few common household items will do the trick.
