How to Get Fingernail Polish Off of Concrete Floors

Colored nail polish brightens up your entire look, but if not carefully applied, it can spill and stain your concrete floor. Nail polish contains chemicals that make it hard to remove from most surfaces. Acetone, the main ingredient in most nail polish removers, works just as well on concrete as it does on fingernails. Acetone and washing soda remove nail polish stains with the help of warm water and a soft bristle brush.

Instructions

    • 1

Soak up spilled nail polish with paper towels if the spill is fresh. Apply acetone to one of the paper towels.

    • 2

Dab the nail polish with the acetone. As you dab, the nail polish lifts off the concrete. If necessary, add more acetone to a clean towel. Continue dabbing until you clean all nail polish off the floor.

    • 3

Combine warm water and washing soda. Dip a soft bristle brush into the washing soda mixture.

    • 4

Scrub the floor with the washing soda solution to wash away the acetone. Rinse the spot with water and let the floor air dry.
